Teaser Tuesday (30): Skin and Bones

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:
  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title and author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!
Skin and Bones
by Sherry Shahan
Expected publication date: March 1, 2014

It's nice to read an eating disorder book from a male POV for a change.

Skin and BonesTeaser from eARC loc 321:

"They only gave you eight peas?" Lard eyed Bone's plate. "I could mainline those."

"It's not that I'm paranoid," Bones said, mashing the peas into his chicken. "But I'm pretty sure the peas have been talking behind my back."

Book Blurb:

Sixteen-year-old Jack, nicknamed "Bones," won't eat. His roommate in the eating disorder ward has the opposite problem and proudly goes by the nickname "Lard." They become friends despite Bones's initial reluctance. When Bones meets Alice, a dangerously thin dancer who loves to break the rules, he lets his guard down even more. Soon Bones is so obsessed with Alice that he's willing to risk everything-even his recovery.

  4. Wow. It really is strange to see these diseases from a male viewpoint. Fascinating.
