Book Review: Unravel Me

Unravel Me (Shatter Me, #2)
Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi
February 5, 2013
Harper Collins
465 pages
Source: ARC
Goodreads Summary:
tick, tick, tick, tick, tick
it's almost
time for war.

Juliette has escaped to Omega Point. It is a place for people like her—people with gifts—and it is also the headquarters of the rebel resistance.

She's finally free from The Reestablishment, free from their plan to use her as a weapon, and free to love Adam. But Juliette will never be free from her lethal touch.

Or from Warner, who wants Juliette more than she ever thought possible.

In this exhilarating sequel to Shatter Me, Juliette has to make life-changing decisions between what she wants and what she thinks is right. Decisions that might involve choosing between her heart—and Adam's life.
My Review:

If you haven't started this series, YOU MUST! Tahereh Mafi simply blows me away with her writing, her characters, and her story. Plus, she is super sweet in person. So quickly go out and read Shatter Me, but then I suggest saving the novella Destroy Me (Warner's POV - sigh) for after Unravel Me. I think I liked that order better (just my opinion).

In order to avoid spoilers, this will be a short review, so what I really want to say about Unravel Me is ... WOW!!! I mean, Wowie Wow Wow!!! The middle book in a trilogy isn't always the best (let's be honest). But this book blew me away. It had more surprises than I think Shatter Me had. These poor characters were put through the ringer, physically and emotionally. I can't even imagine how the trilogy will end, but I cannot wait for it.

Ms. Mafi is an amazing writer. I loved being in Juliette's head. Her prose and ramblings helped me feel all her emotions. I loved Kenji and James - such great guys and their interactions added so much more to the story. And what can you say about Adam and Warner? - oh these guys can't catch a break! I mean seriously, how much can these people endure? My heart is all kinds of a mess over these boys.

Bottomline: This is one of my favorite series, not only for the amazing characters and storyline, but also for Tahereh's genius writing. I am all aflutter, sitting on pins and needles, waiting desperately for the last book. Thank you, Ms. Mafi, for these amazing books!
