young couple in love, studio shot

From New York Times bestselling author Katy Regnery comes a brand new series set on Blueberry Lane!

The Director and Don Juan is the second of four books about the Philadelphia-based Story sisters who are all on the look-out for love.

Heiress Alice Story left her father's company three years ago in a blaze of glory, inviting all of his employees to jump ship and join her, but only one accepted her offer: mail room clerk, Carlos Vega.

While Alice spent the next three years getting her own company off the ground, Carlos became her indispensable right-hand man -- executive assistant and office manager, loyal counsel and trusted co-worker.

And all the while, they were quietly falling in love with each other.

When Alice is offered a lucrative business deal in Puerto Rico, island-born Carlos is the perfect person to accompany her on her trip as translator, but as they travel together from Philadelphia to Santo Domingo to Ponce, two unlikely co-workers will discover that during their three years working together, their feelings for each other have grown far deeper than they ever could have guessed.

And though business-minded, proper Alice will try her very best to ignore the longings of her heart, scorching hot, insanely sexy Boricua, Carlos, has no intention of letting her go.

One year later, she signed her first contract and Katy’s first novel was published in September 2013. Twenty-five books later, Katy claims authorship of the multi-titled, New York Times and USA Today Blueberry Lane Series, which follows the English, Winslow, Rousseau, Story, and Ambler families of Philadelphia; the six-book, bestselling ~a modern fairytale~ series; and several other standalone novels and novellas. Katy’s boxed set, The English Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1–4, hit the USA Today bestseller list in 2015, and her Christmas story, Marrying Mr. English, appeared on the list a week later. In May 2016, Katy’s Blueberry Lane collection, The Winslow Brothers Boxed Set, Books #1-4, became a New York Times E-book bestseller. In 2016, Katy signed a print-only agreement with Spencerhill Press. As a result, her Blueberry Lane paperback books will now be distributed to brick and mortar bookstores all over the United States. Katy lives in the relative wilds of northern Fairfield County, Connecticut, where her writing room looks out at the woods, and her husband, two young children, two dogs, and one Blue Tonkinese kitten create just enough cheerful chaos to remind her that the very best love stories begin at home.

Review: Until It Fades by KA Tucker

Until It Fades by KA Tucker
June 27, 2017
368 pages
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Sports Romance, Women's Fiction

Twenty-four-year-old truck stop waitress and single mother Catherine Wright has simple goals: to give her five-year-old daughter a happy life and to never again be the talk of the town in Balsam, Pennsylvania: population two thousand outside of tourist season.

And then one foggy night, on a lonely road back from another failed attempt at a relationship, Catherine saves a man’s life. It isn’t until after the police have arrived that Catherine realizes exactly who it is she has saved: Brett Madden, hockey icon and media darling.

Catherine has already had her fifteen minutes of fame and the last thing she wants is to have her past dragged back into the spotlight, only this time on a national stage. So she hides her identity. It works.

For a time.

But when she finds the man she saved standing on her doorstep, desperate to thank her, all that changes. What begins as an immediate friendship quickly turns into something neither of them expected. Something that Catherine isn’t sure she can handle; something that Catherine is afraid to trust.

Because how long can an extraordinary man like Brett be interested in an ordinary woman like Catherine…before the spark fades?

'Until It Fades' is an incredibly sweet love story about a single mom, Catherine, who has not had it easy. Not in the least. Some of her challenges were the result of youthful foolishness and its repercussions; many challenges were from the deceptions, hurts, and judgments of others. But Catherine is a fighter. Instead of wallowing in misery, she gets back on her feet, with a couple of strong hands in her corner, and takes charge of her life, challenges and all.

But despite all of Cathrine's challenges, they don't stop her from being a caring, gentle soul, who not only learned from her past, but has become a better person for it. Which leads her to risking her life to save a complete stranger. But her quiet life of staying under the radar is quickly interrupted when that stranger turns out to be hockey icon, Brett Madden.

What I really enjoyed about this story was the slow burn. You can feel the connection between Catherine and Brett right away, but there are a number of obstacles to overcome. So instead of insta-love, we get the beautiful building of a relationship, friendship, and more. I loved getting to know Catherine and Brett, and Catherine's daughter. All the things Cathrine had to consider were thoughtfully examined. And the chemistry between these two was palpable. I only wished there was a bit more focus on Brett and his time with Cathrine, as Cathrine's life and struggles tended to take center stage. But overall a sweet, touching story of overcoming the past, and finding someone who truly appreciates and loves all of who you are.

New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Jay Crownover continues her delightfully sexy Saints of Denver series with the next thrilling standalone, SALVAGED! Order your copy today!

Salvaged by Jay Crownover
(Saints of Denver #4)
June 20, 2017
Genre: Contemporary Romance 18+
Contains: sex, language, previous triggers

Hudson Wheeler is a nice guy. Everyone knows it, including his fiancĂ©e who left him with a canceled wedding and a baby on the way. He’s tired of finishing last and is ready to start living in the moment with nights soaked in whiskey, fast cars, and even faster girls. He’s set to start living on the edge, but when he meets Poppy Cruz, her sad eyes in the most gorgeous face he’s ever seen hook him in right away. Wheeler can see Poppy’s pain and all he wants to do is take care of her and make her smile, whatever it takes.

Poppy can’t remember a time when she didn’t see strangers as the enemy. After a lifetime of being hurt from the men who swore to protect her, Poppy’s determined to keep herself safe by keeping everyone else at arm’s length. Wheeler’s sexy grin and rough hands from hours restoring classic cars shouldn’t captivate her, but every time she’s with him, she can’t help being pulled closer to him. Though she’s terrified to trust again, Poppy soon realizes it might hurt even more to shut Wheeler out—and the intense feelings pulsing through her are making it near impossible to resist him.

The only thing Poppy is sure of is that her heart is in need of some serious repair, and the more time she spends with Wheeler, the more she’s convinced he’s the only man with the tools to fix it.

ADD SALVAGED TO YOUR GOODREADS

'Salvaged' is a beautiful ending to this series. Wheeler and Poppy's story was just the tender romance I was hoping it would be. We have these two individuals who have been through the ringer. Wheeler had his heart stomped on and betrayed by the girl he thought was his forever family and is now embarking on the unexpected journey of single fatherhood. Poppy was abused and terrorized by her family and ex-husband, leaving her damaged and slowly healing her life, her heart, and her trust.

But put these two sensitive, gentle, kindhearted souls together, and you get the magic of healing, of hope, of heart, and of the kind of happiness that these two beautiful souls deserved. I loved the sensitive way that this story was handled. There was a lot going on, not just emotionally, but with both Wheeler and Poppy's families. It was a lot to handle, and it was handled with just enough drama to keep things interesting, but just enough reality to bring out the best in Wheeler and Poppy.

I'm so happy we got Wheeler and Poppy's story. I'm sad this series is over, and selfishly I want more, but this was a beautiful way to wrap it all up.

“I don’t know that I have the time to take on a puppy right now, Poppy.” He lifted a hand and rubbed it across the back of his neck. His mahogany-colored eyebrows pulled into a vee over the top of his nose and the corners of his mouth pulled down in a frown that was too harsh for his pretty face. I liked it much better when he smiled and his twin dimples cut deeply into his cheeks.

I bit my bottom lip to keep the distressed noise that I could feel climbing up the back of my throat at bay. I knew he might say no but I couldn’t hide the fact that I was disappointed by his decision. I honestly felt like he and the puppy would be good for one another, that they could bring a little joy into each other’s life. It broke my heart a little that Wheeler wasn’t ready to open his heart up again, even when it was to something that was so obviously eager to love him unconditionally and irrevocably, unlike his ex.

“It’s okay, Wheeler. Like I said, I’ll take him home until I can find a place for him. I’m sure Dolly could use a friend.” I crouched down and wiggled my fingers to get the dog’s attention, and grinned when he bounded over, tripping over his front legs as he scrambled in my direction. “I can take him to work with me and hold on to him until I figure something out. One of the boys at the shop will step up if Dixie doesn’t want another dog.”

I heard him sigh and looked up to see him watching me intently. He opened his mouth like he was going to say something, then let it snap shut with his teeth audibly clicking together. I didn’t know much about Wheeler, but what I did know I liked. He was nice. He was polite. He was thoughtful and he was kind. But more than any of those things, he went out of his way to hold himself in a way that wasn’t threatening or intimidating because he was aware without me saying a word how jumpy I was around people, men in particular. I hated that they were bigger than me. I hated that I knew firsthand how badly they could hurt me if they had a mind to. I hated that I wilted and cowered under their attention, even if it was innocent and friendly. The fact that he took care not to spook me spoke volumes and made me feel awful for putting him in such an awkward position.

“Poppy…” He sounded regretful and I had no interest in dragging the torture out any longer for either of us. I scooped up the dog and buried my nose in the top of his head.

“Seriously it’s no big deal. I love him and I’m happy to wait until I can find him a proper home. It was stupid of me not to consider how busy you are with everything you have going on in your life right now. A puppy is a big commitment and that’s not something you can put on someone else without discussing it with them first.” The dog swiped his tongue across my face, no doubt feeling my distress and rising panic. I wanted to tuck his warm little body to my chest and run away like I was trying to score a touchdown in the other team’s end zone. “I should have known better.”

Review: Blood & Bone by CC Wood

Blood & Bone by CC Wood
(Blood & Bone #1)
May 30, 2017
Genre: paranormal, romance
Contains: sex, language 18+

Chloe MacArthur has finally found her mate but he's the one wolf she can't have.

To save her heart from further pain, she leaves the pack that she's come to consider her family. Unfortunately, unfinished business leads her back to her childhood home and straight into a deadly game with shifters that will do anything to prevent her from learning the truth.

Ian Lachlan is in mourning. Nearly two years ago, he lost his mate but, thanks to Chloe, he's finally living again. When he wanted to give up and die, she saved him.

Now, Chloe is the one who needs help and Lachlan plans to return the favor. Intent on protecting her from her enemies, he follows Chloe and soon discovers that he wants far more from her than friendship. He wants everything she has to give.

But can either of them let go of the past long enough to reach for their future?

*Though this book features characters from the Bitten series, it can be read as a standalone. If you enjoy Chloe and Lach's story, you can read more starting with Bite Me (Bitten, #1) which is currently free!

Loved! I was completely hooked on this story. Having read the Bitten series, of which this is a spin-off of, I remembered the heartache Lachlan suffered at losing his previous mate. So finding him in this new series was awesome.

I loved Chloe. She had a heart of gold. And so much love and patience for Lachlan. But I also loved how Lach came alive in this story, and with Chloe's patience. Their love story was beautiful and touching. My heart really ached for them at times. And the drama and despicableness of Chloe's former pack and how those issues had to be resolved was gripping. I absolutely loved this story. The ending was perfect. I cannot wait for the next book.

If you love a strong shifter romance with a great plot and that special something, check this one out.
